How to Care for Technistone Quartz Worktops
Technistone quartz is a durable engineered stone surface, but like all quartz worktops it still needs the right day-to-day care. For everyday cleaning, wipe the surface with warm water, a non-concentrated cleaner or mild detergent, and a soft cloth. Rinse with clean water and dry afterwards to help prevent residue and water marks.
This guide is written for residential customers with Technistone quartz worktops, kitchen islands, splashbacks, utility worktops, vanity tops and other internal surfaces supplied or installed by Finch’s Stone & Marble Ltd.

Everyday Cleaning for Technistone Quartz
For normal day-to-day cleaning, use warm water and a mild, non-concentrated cleaning product. Wipe the surface with a soft cloth or microfibre cloth, then rinse away cleaner residue with clean water and dry the worktop.
Spills such as coffee, tea, wine, oil, fruit juice and other kitchen liquids should be wiped up as soon as possible. If a spill has dried onto the surface, soften it with water first and clean gently rather than scrubbing aggressively.
- Wipe the worktop with warm water and a mild, non-concentrated cleaner.
- Clean spills promptly, especially coffee, tea, wine, oil, fruit juice and food preparation marks.
- Rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water after using any cleaning product.
- Dry the worktop with a soft cloth or paper towel to reduce streaks and water marks.
- Test any new cleaning product on a small hidden area before using it across the visible worktop.
Quick Technistone Care Guide
Daily Cleaning
Use warm water, a mild non-concentrated cleaner and a soft cloth. Rinse with clean water and dry the surface afterwards.
Spills & Marks
Wipe up wet spills quickly. Do not leave coffee, tea, wine, oil or other kitchen liquids sitting on the worktop for long periods.
Heat Protection
Do not place hot pans, cast pots, oven trays or heated appliances directly onto Technistone. Always use a trivet or insulating pad.
Important: Use the Correct Cleaning Products
Avoid strong cleaners for toilets, ovens, grills, stainless steel, cooker hoods and drains. Cleaning agents containing strong acids, strong alkalis, sodium hydroxide, phosphoric acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide or hydrofluoric acid can cause irreversible colour or surface damage.
Recommended Cleaning Products and Stubborn Marks
Technistone recommends using suitable non-concentrated cleaning agents for frequent maintenance. Their guidance refers to established cleaning brands including Fila, Bellinzoni, HG International, Moeller Chemie, Lithofin, Akemi, Lasselsberger and Tenax.
Everyday Product Examples
Technistone’s cleaning guide lists everyday products such as Akemi Quartz Clean and Care, Bellinzoni B-Refresh Top, HG natural stone kitchen top cleaner, Rako CL 803 / CL 804 and Lithofin Easy Clean. Product availability and formulas can change, so always read the manufacturer’s instructions before use.
Stubborn Stains and Intensive Cleaning
For more stubborn marks such as grease, rust, scale, soap residue, silicone residue, cement residue or resistant stains, Technistone’s guide lists specialist cleaners. These products may be based on moderate acids or alkalis, so use caution, keep the contact time short, dilute where instructed and rinse thoroughly with water after use.
Test First
Before using any specialist cleaner, test it on a small inconspicuous area first. If you are unsure whether a product is safe for your Technistone quartz worktop, contact Finch’s Stone & Marble Ltd before applying anything strong, acidic, alkaline, abrasive or chemical-based.
Special Finishes, Textured Surfaces and High Traffic Areas
Polished Technistone surfaces are generally easier to maintain, while honed, textured and other special finishes can need more regular care. Fingerprints, metal marks, grease and day-to-day use can be more visible on some darker or textured finishes.
For high traffic surfaces, commercial areas, bars, shops and some special finishes, Technistone guidance refers to specialist protection or impregnation products. These should be used only in line with the manufacturer’s instructions and may need to be renewed over time.
What to Do and What to Avoid
Do
- Use warm water, a mild non-concentrated cleaner and a soft cloth for everyday cleaning.
- Rinse thoroughly after using cleaning products.
- Dry the surface after cleaning to help reduce streaks and water marks.
- Wipe up coffee, tea, wine, oil and other wet spills quickly.
- Use chopping boards when preparing food.
- Use trivets, heat mats and insulating pads for hot cookware and heated appliances.
- Take care with dishes, pans and metal objects near worktop edges and corners.
- Read the cleaner manufacturer’s instructions and safety information before use.
Don’t
- Do not regularly cut food or other products directly on the worktop.
- Do not place hot pans, cast pots, oven trays, cigarettes, lamps or heated appliances directly onto the surface.
- Do not use drain cleaners, mould removers or strong toilet, oven, grill, stainless steel or cooker hood cleaners.
- Do not use products containing hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, hydrogen peroxide or hydrofluoric acid.
- Do not mix chemicals together.
- Do not use steel bristles or aggressive abrasive pads on the surface.
- Do not use Technistone products for prolonged outdoor direct sunlight exposure unless the product and installation are specifically approved for that use.
Heat, Scratches and Everyday Protection
Technistone quartz is hard-wearing, but it is not indestructible. To protect the finish over the long term, do not regularly cut directly on the surface. Use chopping boards for food preparation and take care with special knives, steak knives, grill needles and other sharp objects.
Heat Protection
Do not place hot cookware, cast iron pans, oven trays, air fryer baskets, slow cookers or other hot items directly onto the worktop. Use a trivet, heat mat or insulating pad every time.
Scratch and Impact Protection
Avoid knocking heavy pans, trays, dishes or metal objects against worktop edges and corners. Even very hard stone surfaces can be chipped or damaged by heavy impact.
Does Technistone Quartz Need Sealing or Impregnation?
For normal residential kitchen worktops, the best protection is careful day-to-day cleaning, rinsing, drying and using chopping boards and trivets. Do not apply random stone sealers, waxes or colour intensifiers without checking that they are suitable for Technistone quartz.
Technistone does refer to specialist protection and impregnation products for some special finishes and high traffic surfaces. These should only be used according to the product manufacturer’s instructions, on a clean dry surface, and any excess should be removed and buffed with a clean microfibre cloth.
