How to Care for Caesarstone Quartz Worktops
Caesarstone quartz worktops are designed to be durable, practical and easy to live with.
With the right day-to-day cleaning routine, your surface should stay looking beautiful for many years.
This guide explains how to clean Caesarstone quartz, how to deal with common marks and spills, and what to avoid.
Warm soapy water for daily cleaning
Always use a trivet for hot pans
Avoid harsh chemicals
Wipe spills and dry the surface
Everyday Caesarstone Cleaning
For normal daily cleaning, use warm water, a mild detergent and a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge.
Wipe the surface, rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth or kitchen towel.
Although Caesarstone quartz is non-porous and highly resistant to everyday use, it is still good practice
to wipe up spills as soon as possible, especially around sinks, taps, coffee machines and cooking areas.
Keeping the surface clean and dry helps reduce residue, dull patches and surface build-up.
- Wipe the worktop with warm water and mild detergent.
- Rinse with clean water to remove any cleaning residue.
- Dry with a soft cloth or paper towel to help avoid streaks or patina.
- Repeat regularly, especially after food preparation, cooking or washing up.
Quick Care Guide
Simple cleaning
Warm soapy water is usually enough for everyday cleaning. Always rinse and dry afterwards.
Stubborn marks
Use a suitable non-abrasive cleaner and gently clean a wider area in circular motions, rather than scrubbing one small spot.
Dried spills
Soften dried-on spills with water first, then clean gently with a non-abrasive pad or cloth.
Dark colours
Marks, fingerprints and residue can be more noticeable on darker surfaces, so they may need more frequent cleaning and drying.
Honed or textured finishes
Honed, concrete and rough finishes can show daily marks more easily than polished finishes and may need extra cleaning.
Scratches
Always use a chopping board. Do not cut directly on the quartz surface.
How to Remove Stubborn Stains from Caesarstone
For stubborn stains, start gently. Apply an approved non-abrasive cleaner to a soft cloth or paper towel,
then clean the area in circular movements. It is usually better to clean a larger surrounding area rather
than concentrating all pressure on one small mark.
- Apply a suitable non-abrasive cleaner to a soft cloth or paper towel.
- Gently clean the area in circular motions.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Dry the surface with a soft cloth or paper towel.
- Repeat if required, rather than using aggressive force.
For dried-on food or sticky residue, soften the area with water first. If needed, gently remove excess residue
with a plastic scraper or a non-scratch pad before cleaning and rinsing.
Heat Protection: Do Not Put Hot Pans Directly on Quartz
Caesarstone quartz is heat resistant, but it is not heat proof. Sudden temperature changes or very hot cookware
can damage the surface. Always use a trivet, heat pad or chopping board under hot pans, oven trays, slow cookers,
air fryers, electric frying pans and similar appliances.
What to Use and What to Avoid
Recommended
- Warm water and mild detergent
- Soft cloths or paper towels
- Non-abrasive sponges or non-scratch pads
- Plastic scraper for dried-on residue
- Trivets and heat pads for hot cookware
- Chopping boards for food preparation
Avoid
- Putting hot pans directly onto the surface
- Cutting directly on the worktop
- Oven cleaners, grill cleaners or harsh alkaline products
- Paint strippers or products containing strong solvents
- Abrasive scourers or aggressive scrubbing
- Leaving chemical spills sitting on the surface
Rust Marks, Metal Marks and Specialist Cleaning
Rust marks or metal transfer marks should be treated carefully. Caesarstone’s own guidance refers to using
products such as Bar Keepers Friend® power spray or oxalic acid on a damp cloth, wiping very gently in circular
motions, then rinsing thoroughly and drying the surface.
Do not use an abrasive scourer. If you are unsure, test any cleaning product on a small, inconspicuous area first
or contact your fabricator for advice.
Important Advice for Dark, Honed and Textured Caesarstone Surfaces
Darker colours and matt-style finishes can show fingerprints, metal marks, water residue and general day-to-day
signs of use more readily than polished, lighter colours. This does not usually mean the material is faulty;
it simply means these finishes often need more regular cleaning and drying.
Avoid cream-coloured cleaners on dark surfaces where possible, as they can sometimes leave visible residue if
not rinsed away properly.
Caesarstone Quartz Worktop Cleaning FAQs
What is the best cleaner for Caesarstone quartz worktops?
For everyday cleaning, warm water, mild detergent and a soft cloth are usually enough. Rinse with clean water
and dry the surface afterwards to reduce streaking or residue.
Can I put hot pans on Caesarstone quartz?
No. Caesarstone is heat resistant, but it is not heat proof. Always use a trivet or heat pad under hot pans,
oven trays and heat-producing appliances.
Can I cut directly on Caesarstone?
We recommend using a chopping board. Cutting directly on the surface can damage knives and may mark the worktop.
Why does my quartz worktop look smeary after cleaning?
Smears are often caused by cleaning product residue, oils or water marks. Clean with mild detergent, rinse with
clean water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
Are dark Caesarstone colours harder to keep clean?
Dark colours can show fingerprints, water marks and residue more easily than lighter colours. Regular wiping,
rinsing and drying will help keep the surface looking its best.
Can Caesarstone quartz be polished after installation?
Caesarstone surfaces are supplied with their factory finish. They do not normally need polishing at home.
Regular cleaning is the best way to maintain the appearance.
Who should I contact if my Caesarstone worktop is damaged?
In the first instance, contact the fabricator or company who supplied and installed the surface. If we supplied
your Caesarstone worktop, please contact Finch’s Stone & Marble Ltd and send clear photographs of the issue.
